The first in a series where I am exploring floral in an abstract form. I like to give my paintings a sort of "patina" as if they've been around for centuries but with a contemporary twist using pops of color and collage. These flowers seem to lean in like I do when I watch my antique peony bushes burst into bloom in the springtime. I love working in acrylic on canvas and using various mark-making tools and collage paper to add interest and surprise throughout. I think the colors and feel of this painting gives it a romantic feel.
